Enhanced Sidebar Post is our first published WordPress plugin. Enhanced Sidebar Post (ESP) shows in the sidebar the excerpt of a post and add a thumbnail. The idea behind the plugin is simple. Mark a post as a “very special” Post what you like to point out every time. Like by car dealer who like to show his top models.  We are developing Enhanced Sidebar Post for some upcoming customer projects and like to share it.  Please report bugs, give us feedback and tell us if you have some new ideas. Installation of this plugin

Unpack the zip file
Upload the content into the folder wp-content/plugins/enhanced-sidebar-post
Important: Do not change the folder names.
Go to the Admin panel and activate the plugin.
Finished!

How it works / First steps

Add the widget to your sidebar. You can set the maximum number of posts you like to have in the sidebar. Set the maximum width of the thumbnail (in case you use one) and add a customized “read more” text if needed.

Now create or edit a post. At the right lower side you find a new field (Include in Sidebar ESP). Check it if you like to see this post in the sidebar or leave unchecked and it don’t show up.

You can add a thumbnail or regular picture to your post. The plugin filter your post for the 1. image. If you dont have a picture in your post, you dont have a thumbnail in your sidebar.

Add a excerpt to you post. This text show up in the sidebar. Save the Post – Done!
